Yesterday, May 30th, in the heart of Salvador, spirituality guided us to plant a baobab tree at Largo Terreiro de Jesus, in Pelourinho, in front of the historic Cantina da Lua.
Ancestral wisdom led us on this path. We had planned just a symbolic planting: to position the baobab where it would be planted and take some photos.
But Seu Clarindo Silva, a great elder and guardian of Pelourinho's memories, the body and voice of the struggle for Salvador's Historic Center, told us: "Tomorrow is Today! Soon is Now!"
With a shovel in hand, he sensed the moment and planted one of the four saplings we brought for this Baobab Route.
On a Friday sacred to Oxalá, we planted in Pelourinho Clarindo’s baobab, which preserves and perpetuates our people’s history on this sacred land.
Long live Clarindo! Long live Cantina da Lua! Baobafricanizing Bahia!
